How To Dress for Senior Portraits: Learning The Fashion of the Color Wheel

Neutrality and Simplicity are the Best Color Tones for Senior Portraits

IMPORTANT: When you are putting your outfits together, keep this window open and compare the colors to the color wheel below.

Simple clothing like a full length sleeve and medium or dark colors (like gray or black) really enhance your face when taking senior portraits. For clothing tips visit our "Learning the Element of Color". Colors like brown, burgundy, green, rust, blue or red are pleasing to the eye, however, you must understand what color tones work with what. Wearing the proper clothing will allow your face to dominate the picture, and that is the entire point of getting your senior portraits taken.

The most memorable portraits are carefully planned. Making sure your clothing is comfortable and wrinkle free is highly important. For the ladies, If you wear make-up, make sure to not over do it! Also, concealer works miracles when hiding blemishes.

Ladies: Please avoid plunging necklines. Also, please don’t tan the day before your portrait session. There is too much risk getting sunburned!

Guys: Please get your haircut a week before your portrait session.
